About
Benjamin Hughes represents District 6 and is a lifelong resident of the Eastern Shore. Benjamin has served in Public Safety since 2005 and is a flight nurse with a local air medical transport helicopter providing life-saving service to residents of the Gulf Coast. He is a 2007 graduate of Central Christian School and completed Coastal Alabama Community College’s paramedic program in 2009 and the nursing program in 2013. Councilman Hughes has a very knowledgeable background in fire rescue, EMS and healthcare.
During his career, he has received multiple awards and commendations and also co-authored the Alabama Department of Public Health’s Interfacility Transfer Paramedic Course. Benjamin also works in his family’s business, Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory, located in Daphne. Hughes Funeral Home has served the residents of Daphne and the surrounding area since 2005. Benjamin is married to his wife Bethany and together they have one daughter named Emmie.
Benjamin and his family attend and are active members of City Hope Church in Daphne. Councilman Hughes serves as the Chairman of the Public Safety Committee and is the city council liaison for the Recreation Board.
