John Seifert was born and raised in Ozark located in the southeast corner of Alabama. John is a graduate of Carroll High School and began his college at Enterprise State Junior College (ESJC). After earning two (2) Associate degrees, John transferred to Auburn University to pursue his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and eventually Master of Science, graduating in 2000 and 2002 respectively. Upon graduation from Auburn, John moved to North Alabama to begin his professional career as a defense contractor. John began work as a thermal analyst in 2002 and now is a Senior Program Manager with a local defense contractor.

Upon moving to north Alabama in 2002, John enjoyed volunteer coaching Pop Warner flag football in Madison. John continued volunteering through additional football and Madison Baseball Association coaching and stints as a travel baseball coach. John continues to coach youth sports and is a current Madison-based travel baseball coach. John also volunteered within the Asbury United Methodist Church’s Students’ ministry, Columbia and Rainbow Elementary School’s Watch Dads of Great Students (D.O.G.S) program and Asbury United Methodist Church’s sponsored Cub Scout Pack 351, Den 8 assistant den leader. John has also led his Walden Preserve neighborhood’s Homeowners’ Association’s Covenant Review Committee for several years previously.

John was initially elected to the Madison City Council in 2016 and again in 2020 running unopposed. He currently serves on the Recreation Advisory Board, Planning Commission, and Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc. (HEMSI) board and is the Council Representative to the Parks & Recreation Department.
