About
My name is Marilyn Lands and I’m the proud Democratic nominee for House District 10. I’ve lived in District 10 for the past 30 years. And through this time, we’ve seen historic growth and change. I’m running for the State House because I believe that together we can make that change better for all Alabamians.
I currently work as a licensed professional counselor and have previous experience in banking and aerospace. My dynamic and people-centered career path, along with my guiding Christian values, has allowed me to always work towards bettering my community. And as a wife and dedicated mother, there is not a day that goes by where I’m not doing something to help shape a better future for Alabamians.
Our state legislature can and must do a better job shaping that future for our state. That means providing a strong quality public education and ensuring we have the adequate funding to attract quality teachers and build facilities. And once our students leave the classroom, we need growing industries and well-paying jobs that will be available to them within our state. My background in business community development will allow me to create nonprofit partnerships to provide opportunities for our growing workforce.
As someone who has spent decades in community public health, I know firsthand that all Alabamians cannot succeed unless we fix the inequities in our healthcare coverage. In the state house, I’ll be fighting hard to expand Medicaid and tackle the rising healthcare costs that are impacting our communities.
I’ve never been one for politics, but I’ve always been one for public service. In order for me to help serve Alabama in the State Legislature, I’m going to be hitting the pavement and working hard to get my message out across the 10th District.
