SB550 adds a $35 court cost in Franklin County criminal and quasi-criminal cases (excluding traffic violations) to fund a new judicial building and jail.
In Franklin County's district, circuit, and municipal courts, each criminal or quasi-criminal case will have an extra $35 court cost. The fee is in addition to existing fees and is collected by the court clerk like other costs. The money goes into the Judicial Building and Jail Fund, managed by the Franklin County Commission, and can only be used to build, finance, plan, equip, and operate a new judicial building and jail.
