HB187 would raise a $30 service-of-process fee in Escambia County and direct the funds to the Sheriff’s Service of Process Fund for law enforcement use.
It adds a $30 service-of-process fee on each document that requires personal service, in both criminal and civil divisions of Escambia County district and circuit courts. The collected fees are to be deposited with the Escambia County Sheriff for the Sheriff Service of Process Fund. The sheriff may use these funds for law enforcement purposes in Escambia County, and the funds do not revert to the county general fund at the end of the fiscal year. The act applies only to Escambia County and becomes effective on the first day of the third month after passage.
