HB662 adds a District Attorney's Fee for cases in Madison County and the Twenty-third Judicial Circuit and defines how the money is distributed.
If enacted, every case in municipal, juvenile, district, and circuit courts in the affected area would include a District Attorney's Fee equal to the total docket fees and court costs that would normally go to the Fair Trial Tax Fund. The collected fees are distributed monthly to the District Attorney's Fund or another prescribed DA fund. A $3 administrative fee from each assessed fee is kept by the appropriate clerk for administrative expenses, with municipal-origin fees deposited into the municipal court clerk fund. The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month after Governor approval.
