In Marion County, every domestic violence case in circuit, district, or municipal court would include an extra $25 court cost. The clerk would collect this fee and remit the proceeds monthly to the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence, deducting $1 from each case. The Coalition would distribute the funds to domestic violence programs operating in Marion County that meet its standards. The measure becomes effective immediately upon ratification of a constitutional amendment authorizing the Legislature to alter court costs by local law in Marion County.
