Title
Motor vehicles, driver's licenses, law enforcement authorized to issue citation if reasonable suspicion that driver was driving a motor vehicle without license even without personal observation of the person driving, request to see driver's license authorized under certain conditions, Sec. 32-6-9.1 added (2012-20486)
Description

Under existing law, an individual is required to have his or her driver's license in his or her immediate possession while driving a motor vehicle and is required to display the license upon demand of a police officer or state trooper.

This bill would authorize a law enforcement officer to issue a ticket at the scene of an accident when the officer has reasonable suspicion upon a totality of the circumstances to believe the person was driving without a license.

This bill would allow a law enforcement officer to request that an individual display his or her driver's license if the law enforcement officer has reasonable cause to believe that the individual was driving even if the law enforcement officer does not observe the individual driving.
