Consumers and Consumer Protection, debt collection or agencies, verify telephone number with telephone carrier of person owing the uncollected debt before contact, remedies

Description

Under existing law, there is no requirement that a collection agency or debt collector verify the telephone number with the telephone carrier ensuring the person contacted is the person owing the uncollected debt.

This bill would make such requirement and would provide for remedies.
