Summary

Session
Regular Session 2014
Title
Attorney General's Litigation Support Fund, limitation on deposits removed, detailed reporting required, Sec. 36-15-4.2 am'd.
Description

Under current law, the Attorney General may deposit into the Attorney General’s Litigation Support Fund court ordered attorney fees and related expenses or negotiated settlements and penalties for the use of the Office of the Attorney General in the fiscal year in which the sums are received in a total amount of 50 percent of the sum allocated to the Office of the Attorney General from the State General Fund for that fiscal year and may retain and carryover up to 125 percent of the sum allocated to the Office of the Attorney General from the State General Fund into the next fiscal year.

This bill requires the Office of the Attorney General to deposit such amounts into the Attorney General's Litigation Support Fund and removes the limitations on the amount the Office of the Attorney General may deposit into the fund and provides for detailed reporting, to include reporting to the Legislative Fiscal Officer.
