Regular Session 2014
Title
Vintage vehicles, use for regular transportation purposes, payment of regular license tax and fees in addition to vintage tag, Sec. 40-12-290 am'd.
Description

Under existing law, the owner of a vintage vehicle that functions primarily as a collector's item may register with the licensing official and obtain a permanent vintage vehicle license plate.

Under existing law, a vintage vehicle may be used in club activities, exhibitions, tours, and parades, but may not be used for general transportation purposes.

This bill would authorize the owner of a vintage vehicle to keep the permanent vintage tag, but pay regular license taxes and registration fees and show proof of mandatory liability insurance for the privilege of operating the vintage vehicle for general transportation purposes. This bill would require this information to be kept in the motor vehicle at all times when it is in operation.
