Title
Motor vehicles, window tint law, medical exemption for light-sensitive porphyria, applicable to all areas of windshield, Sec. 32-5C-4 am'd.
Description

Under existing law, tinted windows on a motor vehicle must meet certain specifications unless the owner or passenger of the motor vehicle has obtained an exemption from the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency

This bill would provide that an exemption on behalf of a patient diagnosed with a light-sensitive porphyria would apply to all areas of the windshield and windows prescribed by the physician. This bill would require ALEA to design a decal to be placed on the windshield of any motor vehicle operated by a person receiving an exemption and charge a fee for each decal issued

To amend Section 32-5C-4, Code of Alabama 1975, relating to medical exemptions from the window tinting law; to provide that the exemption applies to the top six inches of a motor vehicle windshield unless otherwise prescribed by the department or by a physician requesting the medical exemption on behalf of a patient diagnosed with light-sensitive porphyria; and to provide for the issuance of a decal to be placed on the windshield of the motor vehicle of an exempt person.
