ENROLLED, SJR31,
RECOGNIZING JANUARY 18, 2018, AS NATIONAL BOARD
CERTIFIED TEACHER DAY.
WHEREAS, the State of Alabama recognizes the
necessity of adhering to the highest ideals of education and
filling its classrooms with exceedingly dedicated,
knowledgeable teachers committed to excellence; and
WHEREAS, National Board Certification, established
to develop, retain, and recognize accomplished teachers and
advance schools nationwide, sets the standard for the level of
expertise and skill all teachers should possess; and
WHEREAS, the National Board Certification, offered
in 25 areas and spanning 16 disciplines from Pre-K through
12th grade, requires teachers to demonstrate standards-based
evidence of their positive impact on student learning in
correlation with the Five Core Propositions; and
WHEREAS, nationwide, more than 112,000 teachers have
fulfilled the rigorous requirements of National Board
Certification; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we hereby recognize January
18, 2018, as National Board Certified Teacher Day.
