WHEREAS, we deeply regret to learn of the death of renowned Weather Channel founder and "Good Morning America" forecaster John Coleman of Las Vegas on January 20, 2018, at ears of age, with his beloved and devoted wife, Linda, by his side, and we uplift his inspiring life and legacy with utmost reverence and respect; and WHEREAS, John Coleman embarked upon his distinguished television career while attending the University of Illinois; his professional record of excellence included working at several local stations in Chicago and the Midwest, joining GMA upon its establishment in 1975, co-founding the Weather Channel and serving as its CEO, being named broadcast meteorologist of the year by the American Meteorological Society, working at television stations in New York and Chicago, and being employed with KUSI-TV in San Diego for 20 years before retiring in 2014; and SJR54 WHEREAS, John Coleman impacted countless lives; although his presence is greatly missed, his memory is cherished in the hearts and minds of all those who were fortunate enough to know him; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That while grieving the death of "Good Morning America" forecaster John Coleman, we are extremely grateful for his abundant life, and we offer this resolution in highest tribute to his legacy, as well as in heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends.
