CONGRATULATING THE PISGAH HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS
BASKETBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE CLASS 3A GIRLS BASKETBALL STATE
CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, it is with pride and pleasure that
commendations and congratulations are extended to the Pisgah
High School Girls Basketball Team on winning the 2018 Class 3A
Girls Basketball State Championship with a thrilling 62-59
victory over the top-ranked Lauderdale County Tigers at the
Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex on March 2, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Pisgah High School has a proud history of
achievement, the Girls Basketball Team having won three prior
3A State Championships under the leadership of Coach Carey
Ellison, and this successful season has brought fame and honor
once again to the girls' basketball program, the school, and
the community; and
WHEREAS, for the 2017-2018 season, the team set and
achieved the goal of becoming 3A State Champions and compiled
an impressive 31-1 record along the way; and
WHEREAS, inspirational leadership and expert
training were provided by Head Coach Carey Ellison; the
talented roster included Kaylee Vaught, Abby Grace Womack,
Savannah Mason, Kennedy Barron, Annie Hughes, Bailey Law,
Madison Myers, and Molly Heard; and
WHEREAS, the success of this team is due to its
mastery of fundamentals, excellent teamwork, and strong
competitive spirit, as well as the enthusiastic support of the
players' parents and the school's administrators, faculty, and
students, along with the many loyal fans in the community; now
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE LEGISLATURE OF
ALABAMA, That Pisgah High School is honored and commended for
the outstanding achievement of winning the 2018 Class 3A Girls
Basketball State Championship; a copy of this resolution shall
be delivered to Coach Ellison and each member of the team
along with our congratulations for a job well done.
