Section 1

Section 45-2-234.40 of the Code of Alabama 1975, is amended to read as follows:

§45-2-234.40.

(a) Any individual employed by the Baldwin County Sheriff's office as a law enforcement officer, including the sheriff, for a period of 10 years or more who retires from the department in good standing may receive from the sheriff, without cost, a retired badge, a retired commission card, and a pistol firearm, provided the pistol firearm is furnished by the department.

(b) The provisions of this section are retroactive to January 15, 1991."

Section 2

This act shall become effective immediately following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
