Bill Summary
Under existing law, a member of the Legislature may enter into a consulting arrangement outside his or her regular scope of work while serving in office.
This bill would require a person who enters into a consulting arrangement with a member of the Legislature that is outside the member's scope of work to notify the State Ethics Commission before compensating the member.
This bill would provide that the records generated by this notification are public records.
This bill would also authorize the commission to adopt rules.
Relating to members of the Legislature; to add Section 36-25-7.1 to the Code of Alabama 1975, to require a person who enters into a consulting arrangement with a member of the Legislature that is outside the member's scope of work to notify the State Ethics Commission before compensating the member; to provide that the records generated by this notification are public records; and to authorize the commission to adopt rules.
