Relating to Madison County; to amend Section 45-45-243.01, Code of Alabama 1975, providing for the distribution of certain proceeds from the beer tax to fund the Senior Citizens' Prescription Drug Program in the county; to further provide for the funds not expended at the end of each fiscal year beginning in 2018.

Section 1

Section 45-45-243.01, Code of Alabama 1975, is amended to read as follows:

§45-45-243.01.

(a) The first twelve thousand dollars ($12,000) received by the Madison County Commission, pursuant to paragraph t. of subdivision (2) of subsection (c) of Section 28–3–190, from the excise tax on beer shall be distributed monthly by the county commission to fund the Senior Citizens' Prescription Drug Program in the county.

(b) Commencing with the end of the 2018 fiscal year, ending September 30, 2018, and at the end of each fiscal year thereafter, any additional funds in the account of the Senior Citizens' Prescription Drug Program not expended for the program shall be transferred to the General Fund of Madison County."

Section 2

This act shall become effective immediately following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
