ENROLLED, House Joint Resolution,
POSTHUMOUSLY HONORING CAPTAIN ROBERT WALKER HUBBARD
FOR OUTSTANDING MILITARY ACHIEVEMENT.
WHEREAS, highest commendations are posthumously
presented to Captain Robert Walker for outstanding military
achievement; and
WHEREAS, Captain Robert Walker Hubbard was
posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for his meritorious
actions while serving as an Advisor to the Revolutionary
Development Cadre, Thua Thien Province, in the City of Hue,
Republic of Vietnam from January 31 to February 4, 1968; and
WHEREAS, Captain Robert Walker Hubbard organized a
defense against the repeated assaults from enemy forces,
covered the front door along with two of his companions and
covered the withdrawal of his unit and inflicted numerous
casualties upon the enemy; during the ensuing the days, he
administered to the wounded, foraged for food and water for
his companions, searched for assistance, and returned deadly
accurate fire on the enemy; on February 4, 1968, while leading
the group with only a single hand grenade in an attempt to
reach friendly forces south of the city, he was hit and
mortally wounded by small-arms fire; he paid the ultimate

sacrifice and gave his life to help his fellow Americans
escape; and
WHEREAS, Captain Robert Walker Hubbard is a worthy
exemplar of those brave and noble individuals whose unwavering
defense of freedom and democracy and willingness to risk their
lives for their fellow citizens combined with their tireless
dedication and exceptional abilities reflect immense credit
upon our great country and the entire State of Alabama; we are
truly indebted to the valor of Captain Robert Walker Hubbard;
now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Captain Robert Walker Hubbard
is posthumously honored and commended, and this resolution is
offered to his family in deepest admiration and appreciation
of his remarkable military service.
