HJR 448 - Enrolled - PDF HJR448 193122-2 By Representative Ford RFD: Rules First Read: 20-MAR-18 HJR448 ENROLLED, House Joint Resolution, COMMENDING MAJOR WILLIAM D. REED FOR EXTRAORDINARY SERVICE TO THE CIVIL AIR PATROL. WHEREAS, we take great pride and pleasure in commending Major William "Bill" D. Reed for extraordinary service to the Civil Air Patrol; and WHEREAS, Major William D. Reed of Rainbow City, Alabama, contributes exceptional direction as the Director of Operations for Alabama Wing; he and his wife, Tammy, who also holds the rank of Major in the Civil Air Patrol, joined the Grand Rapids, Michigan Senior Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol in 2009 and have both been involved in various levels of emergency services and leadership positions within the organization in Michigan and Alabama; and WHEREAS, Major William D. Reed has served as ES Training Officer for the squadron, Group, and Wing levels, held deputy commander positions for Squadron and Group, meets requirements to serve as Mission Pilot, Logistics Section Chief, Liaison Officer, Air Operations Branch Director, Planning Section Chief, and Operations Section Chief, and is working toward earning his Incident Commander qualification; and HJR448 WHEREAS, in addition to responding to numerous distress missions within the Wing, Major William D. Reed has been involved in numerous Department of Homeland Security missions and was honored to serve in various air crew and mission base staff positions in support of Superstorm Sandy and Hurricanes Irma and Maria; and WHEREAS, he has received numerous Commander's Commendation Awards including the National Commander's Commendation Award, and he received The Meritorious Service Award for his work within the Michigan Wing of the Civil Air Patrol; he considers providing Orientation Flight rides to Civil Air Patrol Cadets as one of his most impacting and rewarding experiences as a member of the Civil Air Patrol; and WHEREAS, through the years, he has earned widespread respect for the commitment and capability he brought to every challenge while compiling an outstanding record of leadership; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Major William D. Reed is commended for extraordinary service to the Civil Air Patrol, and this resolution is offered in highest tribute and deepest appreciation on behalf of the citizens of the State of Alabama.
