PERNA, COMMANDING GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY MATERIEL COMMAND. WHEREAS, General Gustave F. Perna became the 19th Commander of the United States Material Command on September 30, 2016; and WHEREAS, prior to working at the Pentagon, General Perna served as Deputy Chief of Staff for logistics and operations at the Army Materiel Command and before that, as Commander of the Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command; and WHEREAS, General Perna graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1981; he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland and a Master's Degree in Logistics Management from Florida Institute of Technology; his distinguished service includes assignments in Iraq, Bosnia, and Somalia; and WHEREAS, General Perna has received numerous awards and decorations including: the Defense Superior Service Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster; Legion of Merit; Bronze Star Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster; Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Commendation Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters; and Army Achievement Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster; his badges include Parachutist Badge and Air Assault Badge; and WHEREAS, General Perna continues to serve the United States with an unwavering commitment to excellence and brings immense credit upon himself and the country he loves; he is truly deserving of special recognition and it is a tremendous privilege to recognize and honor General Perna for his unparalleled service and sacrifice; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That it is a unique privilege to honor General Gustave F. Perna for his achievements and service, and by copy of this resolution we convey our esteem and gratitude along with best wishes in all his future endeavors.
