WHEREAS, the death of Mr. Philip Boss, III, of Huntsville, Alabama, on February 27, 2018, is noted with sorrow and his full life of 91 years is honored and celebrated with thanksgiving; and WHEREAS, the son of the late Philip Boss, Jr., and Josie Newsome Boss, and his step-mother, Annie Ruth Boss, he was born on December 7, 1926, in Birmingham, Alabama, and was reared in Phenix City, Alabama, before bravely answering the patriotic call of duty and serving in the United States Army during World War II; and WHEREAS, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, his death is a grievous loss to his wife of ears, Margaret; his children, Brian Boss, Nancy Haars (Jeff), and Janet Winters (Mark); grandchildren, David Haars, Michael (Shelbie) Haars, Sam Haars, Jack (Hannah) Winters, Ryan Winters, Kelly Winters, and Jennifer Boss; and great-grandson, Michael Haars, Jr.; and many other relatives and friends; and WHEREAS, he was well respected within the construction community, beginning his career in commercial construction in 1954, retiring from Harold Construction in 1992, and then serving as the first Executive Director of the North Alabama Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) until 1999, and receiving the first Eagle Award by ABC in 2004 for his lifetime of service to the North Alabama construction industry; and WHEREAS, he was a follower of the Lord, and was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder, Trustee, and on every building committee; and WHEREAS, his service to North Alabama was admired and respected; he formed many friendships in the State of Alabama and will be sorrowfully missed, but reminders of his life abound and his memory will be forever treasured in the hearts of those whose lives he shared; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That while mourning the death of Mr. Philip Boss, III, his service to his country and his active life are gratefully remembered, and this resolution is offered to his family with heartfelt sympathy.
