MOURNING THE DEATH OF RONNIE ELDRED KEAHEY.
WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
death on December 25, 2018, of Mr. Ronnie E. Keahey of Grove
Hill, Alabama, at the age of 75 years; and
WHEREAS, his passing leaves a void in the lives of
his loving family, many friends, and the entire community,
where he was highly regarded; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Keahey was born on August 21, 1942, to
George D. Keahey, Sr., and Katie Ford-Keahey in Choctaw
County, Alabama; and
WHEREAS, following his graduation from Cumberland
Law School in 1970, he associated in the practice of law with
Wyman O. Gilmore as the Gilmore-Keahey Law Office; and
WHEREAS, in 1981, he opened the Keahey Law Office,
located in the old First Bank of Grove Hill Building on Main
Street; and
WHEREAS, a practicing attorney for 47 years, he
served in numerous capacities in the legal profession,
including assistant district attorney, municipal judge in both
Grove Hill and Jackson, a member of the Board of Bar
Commissioners, and past president of the Circuit Bar and the
County Bar Association; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Keahey was a faithful member of
Tompkins Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents;
and brothers, George D. Keahey, Jr., and Dr. John R. Keahey;
and
WHEREAS, survivors include his wife, Lainie Keahey;
children, Robert D. "Bobby" Keahey (Pam), Amy Keahey Horton
(Kent), Roni-Starr (Geneva Morgan) Keahey, George M. "Marc"
Keahey (Lara); grandchildren, Maggie Sgarlata, Bo Keahey,
Harley Horton, Luke Horton, Gauge Horton, Cotton Keahey, Marc
Keahey, II, Scarlette Keahey, Weezie Keahey; and
great-grandchildren, Lexi Kearley, Zella Sgarlata, Jace
Sgarlata, and Ashton Keahey; and
WHEREAS, although his presence will be greatly
missed, the memory of Mr. Keahey will be cherished in the
hearts of all who knew and loved him; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Mr. Ronnie
Eldred Keahey is noted with deep sadness, and this resolution
is offered in tribute to his life and with heartfelt sympathy
to his family, whose grief is shared by many.
