MOURNING THE DEATH OF PATRICK V. MARTIN.
WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
death on March 7, 2018, of Patrick V. Martin of Gadsden,
Alabama, at the age of 72 years; and
WHEREAS, his passing leaves a void in the lives of
his loving family, many friends, and the entire community,
where he was highly regarded; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Martin was a diesel mechanic and truck
driver for man years before he owned and operated his own lawn
care business, Martins Lawncare; and
WHEREAS, he was a faithful and dedicated member of
Damascus Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Martin enjoyed camping, fishing, car
shows, old western movies, playing Santa Claus for kids, and
The University of Alabama Championship Football; and
WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents,
Harvey and Lena Martin, and seven brothers and one sister; and
WHEREAS, survivors include his loving wife of 51
years, Myra Patterson Martin; children, Catherine Marie Varnon
(Todd) and Tim Martin; grandchildren, Kama Martin (J. J.
Cromer) and Tyler Varnon; great-grandchildren, Cason,
McKinley, and Harper Cromer; sisters, Edna McCullers, Brenda
Clanton, Shirley Handford, Kathy Myers, Talynda Martin, Teresa
Franklin, Joanne Thacker; brothers, Steve and Alford Martin;
chosen brothers, Bill Martin (Vicki), Elbert Hart (Ann), Larry
Gamblin (Charlsey), and Patricia Turner; special nieces and
nephews, Jessica Hulsey (Fielding), Joey, Wayne, and Josh
Martin, and Shannon Gray; and chosen grandchildren, Jeshua,
Isaiah, and Ryker Hulsey; and
WHEREAS, although his presence will be greatly
missed, the memory of Mr. Martin will be cherished in the
hearts of all who knew and loved him; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Mr. Patrick V.
Martin is recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution is
offered in tribute to his life and with heartfelt sympathy to
his family, whose grief is shared by many.
