HR420 193156-1 By Representative Ford RFD: First Read: 15-MAR-18 193156-1:n:03/13/2018:JEC/jec LSA2018-1028 MOURNING THE DEATH OF MILLARD HALE. WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the death of Millard Hale on February 20, 2018, at the age of 97 years; and WHEREAS, Millard Hale was born on March 15, 1920, to S.T. and Amanda Hale, in Phil Campbell, Alabama; he grew up in a farming family and drove a school bus while attending Ohatchee High School; in January 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served as a gunner and driver in an M7 tank; he was in the "Lucky 7" part of the 7th Armored Division under General George Patton; he was awarded the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal AR 600-68, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Four Bronze Stars, and inducted into the Patriots Hall of Honor in Gadsden; and WHEREAS, following the war, he was employed by Goodyear; he was an active member of First Baptist Church of Glencoe for 65 years, where he served in many positions; he was an active member of the Hokes Bluff Masonic Lodge, and VFW Post 10408; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hale was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who gave of himself to his family and friends; he was known for his love of his church, family, and community; and he enjoyed working in the garden and repairing old lawn mowers and clocks; and WHEREAS, he was predeceased by his parents; his loving wife of 69 years, Mildred McElroy Hale; four brothers, three sisters, and a granddaughter; his survivors include his five children; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends; and WHEREAS, the passing of Mr. Hale leaves a void in the lives of his loving family, many friends, and the entire community, where he was highly regarded; his presence will be greatly missed, but his memory will be cherished in the hearts of all who knew and loved him; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Millard Hale is recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution is offered in highest tribute to his life, along with heartfelt sympathy to his grieving family.
