HR490 193952-1 By Representative Moore (M) RFD: First Read: 27-MAR-18 193952-1:n:03/26/2018:AR/ar LSA2018-1529 MOURNING THE DEATH OF CHARLES TOWNES. WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow tat we note the death on March 23, 2018, of Charles Townes at the age of 68 years; and WHEREAS, his passing leaves a void in the lives of his loving family, many friends, and the entire community, where he was highly regarded; and WHEREAS, Mr. Townes was born on July 29, 1949, to Charles Townes and Mrs. Minnie H. Tell; and WHEREAS, a graduate of George Washington High School, Mr. Townes was drafted into the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War; he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal; and WHEREAS, Mr. Townes was a faithful member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church, Acipco, Alabama; and WHEREAS, survivors include his children Dedrick Townes, Carlos Townes, Charles Townes, Cedric Townes, Tony Townes, and Victoria Townes; and WHEREAS, although his presence will be greatly missed, the memory of Mr. Townes will be cherished in the hearts of all, who knew and loved; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Me. Charles Townes is recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution in offered in tribute to his life and with sympathy to his family, whose grief is shared many.
