MOURNING THE DEATH OF MRS. ALICE COLLINS VAUGHN.
WHEREAS, we deeply regret to learn the death of
Alice Collins Vaughn on March 21, 2018, and we uplift her life
and legacy with utmost reverence and respect; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Vaughn was born to the union of Jack
and Joyce Kilgore Collins on July 12, 1962; she was an honor
student and a member of the color guard at Litchfield High
School, where she graduated in 1980; she spent her early years
singing in the choir at East Gadsden Baptist Church; she
married the love of her life, Lee Vaughn, in November 1980;
and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Vaughn earned her Bachelor's and
Master's Degrees from Jacksonville State University while
being a working wife and mother to her sons; she taught
writing and science for 21 years in the Etowah County School
System; through the years, she earned widespread respect for
her tireless dedication, exceptional abilities, diligence,
hard work, and attention to detail; her students considered
her a very special teacher; and
WHEREAS, her pastimes included gardening, reading,
baking, music, hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time
with family and friends; and
WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her son, Tim
Vaughn; survivors include her beloved husband; son, Chris
(Casey) Vaughn; sister, Deborah (Mike) Cole; and a host of
other relatives and many special friends; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Alice Collins Vaughn was a valued
member of the community; although her presence is greatly
missed, her memory is cherished in the hearts and minds of all
those who knew her; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That while grieving the death of
Alice Collins Vaughn, we are extremely grateful for her
abundant life, and we offer this resolution in highest tribute
to her legacy, as well as with heartfelt sympathy to her
family and friends.
