HR518 194105-1 By Representative Chestnut RFD: First Read: 29-MAR-18 194105-1:n:03/28/2018:DSM/th LSA2018-1573 HONORING THE SERVICE OF VETERANS IN SELMA AND DALLAS COUNTY. WHEREAS, it is a tremendous privilege to honor the service of veterans in Selma and Dallas County; and WHEREAS, we are greatly indebted to the service of those brave individuals residing in Selma and Dallas County who have displayed an unwavering commitment to excellence in defending freedom and democracy as well as a willingness to make the ultimate sacrifice; and WHEREAS, in an effort to demonstrate our immense appreciation, we urge a park to be named for veterans residing in Selma and Dallas County, and we urge that the walking track at Memorial Stadium in the area be renamed the Memorial Veterans walking track and for veterans' monuments and flags to be placed around the track; and WHEREAS, the distinguished service of veterans in Selma and Dallas County reflect immense credit upon the entire State of Alabama, and these everyday heroes are truly deserving of special commendation and praise; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the veterans residing in Selma and Dallas County are hereby honored and commended, and we urge that the Memorial Stadium walking track be renamed the Memorial Veterans walking track, and that veterans' monuments and flags be placed around the track, and we further encourage all Alabamians to recognize and uplift the service of these heroes.
