MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF
WILLIAM EARL STROUP.
WHEREAS, we are greatly saddened to learn of the
death of William "Will" Earl Stroup, a lifelong resident of
Southside, Alabama, on January 9, 2018, at 26 years of age,
and we uplift his inspiring life and legacy with utmost
reverence and respect; and
WHEREAS, the passing of William Earl Stroup leaves a
void in the lives of his loving family, many friends, and the
entire community, where he was highly regarded; and
WHEREAS, born July 30, 1991, Will graduated from
Southside High School in 2009 and was scheduled to graduate
from Jacksonville State University in the fall of 2018; he
aspired to teach English in Japan; and
WHEREAS, Will was a talented musician who played
tuba in the Pride of Southside Marching Band and the Etowah
Youth Orchestra; he was a self-taught piano player; and
WHEREAS, reading and writing were passions of
Will's, and he hoped to become an author; a kind and
compassionate young man, he helped take care of his
grandmother, Alice, for the past several years; and
WHEREAS, Will was a faithful and dedicated member of
Rainbow Church of Christ, where he volunteered manning the
projector and sound; and
WHEREAS, survivors include his mother, Susan
Lasseter; father, Stanley Stroup; grandmothers, Virginia
Lasseter and Alice Stroup; uncles, Paul (Ginger) Lasseter,
Mike Walen, Jerry (Marla) Stroup, and Michael Stroup; close
cousin and friends, Dave (Jessica) Lasseter and Nik Amberson;
and numerous other cousins and friends; and
WHEREAS, Will was a valued member of the community;
although his presence is greatly missed, his memory is
cherished in the hearts and minds of all those who were
fortunate enough to know him; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That while grieving the death of
William Earl Stroup, we are extremely grateful for his
precious life, and we offer this resolution in highest tribute
to his legacy, as well as with heartfelt sympathy to his
family and friends.
