HR68 189915-1 By Representative Ford RFD: First Read: 16-JAN-18 189915-1:n:01/16/2018:JEC/jec LSA2018-327 MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF MR. TONEY COPELAND. WHEREAS, we deeply regret to learn of the death of Mr. Toney Copeland of Attalla, Alabama, on January 12, 2018, at 50 years of age, and we uplift his life and legacy with utmost reverence and respect; and WHEREAS, the passing of Mr. Toney Copeland leaves a void in the lives of his loving family, many friends, and the entire community, where he was highly regarded; and WHEREAS, a 1985 graduate of Etowah High School, Mr. Copeland was an avid Alabama football fan and a dedicated card player; he loved to travel and spend time with friends and family; and WHEREAS, survivors include his beloved and devoted wife of 30 years, Gerri Copeland; daughter, Elizabeth (Jamey) Cook; son, Matthew Copeland; father, Travis Copeland; mother and stepfather, Clara (Phillip) Robinson; brother, Mike (Donna) Copeland; nephew, Ty Copeland; sister, Michele (Jonathan) Dietz; niece, Katie Dietz; chosen grandchildren, Riley Cook, Dalton Cook, Logan Cook, and Cooper Johnson; and a host of uncles, cousins, and in-laws; he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer; grandparents, Leonard and Gertrude Copeland, Clara Lou Beard, and J.T. Teal; sister, Jeannie; and nephew, Adam; and WHEREAS, Mr. Copeland was a valued member of the community; although his presence is greatly missed, his memory is cherished in the hearts and minds of all those who were fortunate enough to know him; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That while grieving the death of Mr. Toney Copeland, we are extremely grateful for his abundant life, and we offer this resolution in highest tribute to his legacy, as well as in heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends.
