HR83 190223-1 By Representative Ford RFD: First Read: 23-JAN-18 190223-1:n:01/22/2018:JEC/jec LSA2018-411 MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF MR. CHARLES EDWARD SIMMONS. WHEREAS, we deeply regret to learn of the death of Mr. Charles Edward Simmons of Rainbow City, Alabama, on January 17, 2018, at 70 years of age, and we uplift his life and legacy with utmost reverence and respect; and WHEREAS, the passing of Mr. Charles Edward Simmons leaves a void in the lives of his loving family, many friends, and the entire community, where he was highly regarded; and WHEREAS, a graduate of Walnut Grove High School, Mr. Simmons had a long career as a tool and die machinist and worked for local companies including Dixie Tool, Alabama Tool, and Tocco, Inc., in Boaz, Alabama, where he retired; in retirement, he served as the owner and operator of "Sports and More" for nine years; later, he also enjoyed woodworking at M and L Woodworking; Mr. Simmons was an industrious family man who encouraged his grandchildren at every opportunity; and WHEREAS, survivors include his beloved and devoted wife of 51 years, Linda Wilson Simmons; daughter, Susan Simmons; son, Edward Simmons; beloved grandsons, Caleb, T.J., and Chris Simmons; sisters, Ruth Payne, Nell Payne, LaDonna (Michael) Clements; brother, Sherrell (Kay) Simmons; sister-in-law, Betty (Shelby) Avery; and numerous nieces and nephews; he was preceded in death by his father, T.J. (Dolly) Simmons; mother, Annis Holland Simmons; and sister, Betty Simmons Jenkins; and WHEREAS, Mr. Simmons was a valued member of the community; although his presence is greatly missed, his memory is cherished in the hearts and minds of all those who were fortunate enough to know him; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That while grieving the death of Mr. Charles Edward Simmons, we are extremely grateful for his abundant life, and we offer this resolution in highest tribute to his legacy, as well as with heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends.
