WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the death on January 18, 2018, of Mrs. Dorothy Mazell Day of Gadsden, Alabama, at the age of 78 years; and WHEREAS, her passing leaves a void in the lives of her loving family, many friends, and the entire community, where she was highly regarded; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Day grew up in Albertville, Alabama, and was a longtime resident of Gadsden; and WHEREAS, she and her husband, Andrew, owned and operated Gadsden Printing Company; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Day was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Cleo Holbrooks; and son, Daryl Lee Day; and WHEREAS, survivors include her husband of 59 years, Andrew J. Day, Jr.; sons, James Day (Sherri) and Jonathan Day; grandchildren, Natasha Day and Nicholas Day (Melissa); great-grandchildren, Orrin, Morgan, Tyler, and Taylor; brothers, Joe Fred Holbrooks and Denverd Holbrooks; and a host of nieces and nephews; and WHEREAS, although her presence will be missed, the memory of Mrs. Day will be cherished in the hearts of all who knew and loved her; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Mrs. Dorothy Mazell Day is recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution is offered in tribute to her life and with heartfelt sympathy to her family, whose grief is shared by many.
