Description

Under existing law, there is no provision prohibiting a person who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor offense and sentenced to an additional penalty for committing a crime motivated by a victim's race, national origin, ethnicity, or disability from owning, possessing, or controlling a firearm

This bill would prohibit a person convicted of a felony or misdemeanor offense and who is sentenced to an additional penalty for committing a crime motivated by a victim's race, national origin, ethnicity, or physical or mental disability under existing law, from owning, possessing, or controlling a firearm

To amend Section 13A-11-72, Code of Alabama 1975, to prohibit a person convicted of a felony or misdemeanor offense for which he or she is sentenced to an additional penalty for committing a crime motivated by a victim's race, national origin, ethnicity, or physical or mental disability from owning, possessing, or controlling a firearm.
