Insurance, Commissioner of Insurance authorized to create educational and informational programs, hurricanes and nonhurricane wind and hail added to list of perils insurers required to provide in writing homeowners insurance, Secs. 27-2-7, 27-22-21 am'd.
Description

Under existing law, the Property Insurance Clarity Act requires insurers authorized to transact homeowners insurance in this state, to annually submit certain information to the Department of Insurance regarding incurred losses, policies in force, and earned premium for the prior calendar year

This bill would authorize the Commissioner of Insurance to create educational and informational programs and presentations for consumers regarding insurance and other matters regulated by the department

This bill would also add hurricanes and nonhurricane wind and hail to the list of perils for which information is to be provided by insurers to the department

Relating to insurance; to amend Sections 27-2-7 and 27-22-21, Code of Alabama 1975, to authorize the Commissioner of Insurance to create educational and informational programs and presentations for consumers; and to add hurricanes and nonhurricane wind and hail within the list of perils that insurers writing homeowners insurance are required to provide information regarding to the department pursuant to the Property Insurance Clarity Act.
