HB6 uses unanticipated general fund dollars to fund prison facility construction and the Perry County prison project, with unused funds rollable into the next fiscal year.
It provides two supplemental appropriations from the unanticipated and unappropriated balance of the State General Fund for fiscal year 2022: $135,000,000 to the Department of Corrections' Correctional Capital Improvement Fund for construction, renovation, and improvement of prison facilities; and $19,000,000 to the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles to acquire and renovate the Perry County Correctional Facility. Any unspent amount from either appropriation as of September 30, 2022 shall be reappropriated for the same purpose for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2022.
