Title
Veterans Affairs, authorize to purchase certain promotional items, Secs. 31-5-4, 31-5-6, 31-5-9, 31-5-14 am'd.
Description

Under existing law, the Alabama Department of Veterans' Affairs provides assistance to military veterans in formulating and processing claims for benefits to which they may be entitled under any federal or state law or regulation by reason of their war time service in the Armed Forces of the United States. Additionally, the department's county service commissioners must meet certain residency and military service requirements and each county is required to provide an office for the county service commissioner.

This bill would allow the board to incur and engage in marketing and promotional expenditures and activities in furtherance of its purpose, as determined by the board.

This bill would allow the department to employ Alabama veterans without war time service as county service commissioners.

This bill would also clarify the office requirements for a county office.
