Description

Under existing law, the Alabama G.I. and Dependents' Educational Benefit Act provides scholarship benefits for postsecondary education to the dependents of veterans based on certain conditions.

This bill would provide that the scholarship benefits are provided for instruction at any public or private two-year or four-year institution of higher education that is physically located in the state and receives state funds.

Relating to the Alabama G.I. and Dependents' Educational Benefit Act; to amend Sections 31-6-2, 31-6-4, 31-6-5, 31-6-6, 31-6-8, 31-6-9, 31-6-11, 31-6-12, 31-6-13, 31-6-15, 31-6-15.1, and 31-6-16, Code of Alabama 1975, to provide that scholarship benefits may be used for instruction at any public or private two-year or four-year institution of higher education located in the state that receives state funds; and to make nonsubstantive, technical revisions to update the existing code language to current style.
