The bill amends Section 45-22-60 to establish the coroner's annual salary (set at $35,000, paid from the county's general fund) and to make this the total compensation subject to future uniform pay increases. It allows the coroner to participate in the county health insurance plan on the same terms as other county employees. The county must provide office space and a county automobile, reimburse actual expenses for supplies used in duties, and allow the coroner to hire an assistant coroner with that salary paid out of the coroner's pay. The changes take effect for the coroner's term beginning January 16, 2023.
