Description

Under existing law, the city council of a Class 6 municipality, by ordinance, may provide for the terms of members of the city council to be staggered. The elections are held in even-numbered years.

This bill would provide that the city council of a Class 6 municipality in which the terms of members of the city council are staggered, by ordinance, may revise the terms and the election dates of the city council and mayor so that the general municipal elections would be held in odd-numbered years and the terms of the city council would continue to be staggered.
