Senate Finance and Taxation Education Hearing
Finance and Taxation at 10:00:00

Renames the National Foundation to the March of Dimes Inc. in Alabama’s tax-exemption law while preserving existing exemptions for a wide range of nonprofits.
The bill amends Section 40-9-12(a) to substitute March of Dimes Inc. for the National Foundation in the list of exempt entities. It keeps the same tax exemptions for the numerous organizations and their real and personal property, so state, county, and municipal taxes continue to be waived. It also preserves the definitions and administrative rules related to charitable organizations, United Way structures, and annual reporting requirements, with the act taking effect immediately after passage.
