HB520 would let Montgomery County judges in the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit raise their judicial assistants' salaries using local funds, with the presiding judge's approval.
It would allow judges in the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit to provide a supplemental salary to their judicial assistants, in addition to the state salary, funded by the county and approved by the presiding judge. The supplement would be paid in equal installments like other county salaries and could use the county general fund or other available funds. The supplemental pay would replace any other county supplement for judicial assistants and would be the total county supplement for them. It becomes effective on the first day of the third month after passage and governor approval.
