HB110 expands the intrastate air-mile radius for hours-of-service rules from 75 to 150 miles for Alabama commercial drivers, while preserving driving and weekly hour limits, with an effective date of October 1, 2024.
Within the new 150-air-mile radius, drivers are subject to a 12-hour driving limit and may not drive if they have been on duty for more than 15 hours. Drivers may not exceed 70 hours on duty in seven consecutive days. Carriers with conditional or unsatisfactory FMCSA ratings are exempt from the intrastate radius limits; carriers with satisfactory or unrated ratings must operate under the variance and follow duty-record requirements. Drivers must comply with the federal record-of-duty provisions and keep seven days of duty records available for inspection.
