HB146 would give a 2% across-the-board pay raise to most Alabama public education employees (K-12, postsecondary, and related institutions) starting in FY 2024-2025, and update salary schedules accordingly.
It increases pay by 2% for certificated K-12 employees and raises the State Minimum Salary Schedule by 2% for FY 2024-2025, with placement based on degree and years of service. It also provides a 2% pay increase for Education Support Personnel (K-12) and requires local districts to establish or adjust local salary schedules to reflect these increases. The bill extends similar increases to employees at the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) for certificated and support staff, and requires revised schedules and timing for these raises. For two-year postsecondary institutions (Community Colleges), it requires a 2% increase across salary schedules for 2024-2025, with credit for prior public education experience and no increase above 2% unless provided in the act.
