Title

Public school teacher salary schedule, experience credit provided to certain certified teachers for experience as paraprofessional or teacher's aide

Description

Existing law does not provide experience credit to certified teachers for years worked as a paraprofessional or classroom teacher's aide before they were certified.

This bill would provide certified teachers with one year of experience credit on the local salary schedule for every two years that he or she previously worked as a paraprofessional or classroom teacher's aide at a public school in this state, provided that he or she has a minimum of four years total experience.

This bill would only apply to certified teachers hired on or after June 1, 2024.
