About
In November 2010, Doug Sinquefield was elected to the Houston County Commission as representative of District 2 as a Republican. He is approaching his third year as commissioner seeing continuing growth in our county and District 2 with the new Osteopathic Medical College and potential development on the east side of the county.
He would like to see more water lines in our rural areas and is working with the local municipalities in Ashford, Cottonwood, and Dothan to expand water to the rural areas for greater fire protection. Commissioner Sinquefield's main objectives, other than promoting economic growth for Houston County, are to eventually see all rural dirt roads paved, implement additional programs to keep our countryside free of litter and pursue alternative energy resources in order to reduce costs for Houston County. Above all, he wants to ensure that local governments protect and use taxpayers' funds wisely and responsibly.
During these first 3 years, he has enjoyed working with the people in his district, seeing what their needs are and finding solutions to each one. His goal is to strive to become even more knowledgeable in his position as their voice. He is adamant about researching all issues that come before the Commission for a vote, ensuring that he has full knowledge of the subject matter so that he can cast a responsible vote for his constituents. He has established a hands-on relationship with our State representative, congresswoman, and senators so that he has the full scope of their assistance if needed as well as being able to convey concerns that his district might voice.
