Title
Transportation Dept, competitive bids, min. requirement increased for projects over $250,000, Sec. 39-2-2 am'd.
Description

Under existing law, a governmental body that enters into a public works project that exceeds $50,000 must advertise and solicit sealed bids

This bill would allow the Department of Transportation to let contracts for road construction or maintenance projects without advertising for sealed bids if the project does not exceed $250,000 and the project is listed on the department website for a certain time period beforehand, provided all such projects not requiring advertising and sealed bids may not exceed $1,000,000 in the aggregate per year

Relating to competitive bidding; to amend Section 39-2-2, Code of Alabama 1975, to allow the Department of Transportation to let contracts for road construction or maintenance projects without advertising for sealed bids if the project does not exceed $250,000 and the project is listed on the department website for a certain time period beforehand, provided all such projects not requiring advertising and sealed bids may not exceed $1,000,000 in the aggregate per year.
