ENROLLED, House Joint Resolution,
RECOGNIZING APRIL 6, 2018, AS COACH BUD MILLS DAY.
WHEREAS, one of the greatest coaching legends the
great State of Alabama has produced is Coach Bud Mills; and
WHEREAS, the highly regarded Cherokee, Alabama,
native, who embarked upon his distinguished coaching career at
Cherokee High School in 1955, has molded the lives of
countless exceptional student-athletes whose standout high
school and collegiate performances are still revered today,
and whose names continue to be hallowed in the world of
Alabama athletics; and
WHEREAS, Coach Bud Mills has equipped thousands of
young men and women with crucial life tools that have
propelled them on a path of tremendous success; and
WHEREAS, through the years, he has earned widespread
admiration and respect for his tireless dedication and
exceptional abilities as a coach, teacher, and mentor, and he
is truly deserving of special recognition and praise; and
WHEREAS, on April 6, 2018, both the Town of Cherokee
and Colbert County, Alabama, will celebrate Coach Bud Mills
Day, a day set aside for the men and women he coached and
inspired to return to Cherokee and Cherokee High School to
personally thank him; and

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we extend our deepest
admiration and appreciation to Coach Bud Mills for his
immeasurable service and significant contributions to Alabama
high school athletics and hereby recognize April 6, 2018, as
Coach Bud Mills Day with instructions that he shall receive a
copy of this resolution.
