RECOGNIZING THE EIGHTH POLAR PLUNGE ON BEING A GREAT
SUCCESS.
WHEREAS, it is a tremendous privilege to recognize
the eighth Polar Plunge at Oak Mountain State Park in
Birmingham, Alabama, on January 13, 2018, on being a great
success; and
WHEREAS, notably, more than 100 people participated
in the highly anticipated fundraiser for the Special Olympics
of Alabama by jumping into 45-degree water; and
WHEREAS, a costume contest was held before the
plunge and vendors for the event included Publix Super Market,
Starbucks, and The Connection Church; and
WHEREAS, Alabama law enforcement hosts many
fundraisers that make programs such as Special Olympics of
Alabama possible, and the law enforcement community poured
magnanimous efforts into the Polar Plunge; and
WHEREAS, a worthy cause such as the Polar Plunge
benefitting the Special Olympics of Alabama, which provides
children and adults with intellectual abilities the
opportunity to partake in year-round athletic training and
competition, is truly deserving of special commendation and
praise; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That the eighth Polar Plunge is
hereby recognized on being a great success, and this
resolution is offered to its organizers, sponsors, and
participants in deepest admiration and appreciation for their
immeasurable service, as well as with sincere best wishes for
continued good fortune in all future endeavors.
