HR449 193577-1 By Representative Drake RFD: First Read: 20-MAR-18 193577-1:n:03/20/2018:DSM/bm LSA2018-1379 MOURNING THE DEATH OF JAMES FRANKLIN BROWN. WHEREAS, it is with deep sorrow and regret that we note the lamentable death of James Franklin Brown on March 12, 2018, at the age of 80 years; a graduate of Phillips High School in Birmingham, Mr. Brown attended Jacksonville State University before enlisting in the Alabama Air National Guard in April of 1955; and WHEREAS, after 42 years of service, Brown retired in October 1996, with the rank of Major General; Brown was a member of the National Guard Association of the United States and Alabama, the Enlisted National Guard Association of the United States and Alabama, Air Force Association, Greater Birmingham Aviation Safety Committee, The American Legion, Zamora Shrine Temple, and Wahouma Masonic Lodge #763; and WHEREAS, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenda T. Brown; his parents, E. Grafton and Momie Lee Brown; and his brother, Ralph A. Brown; he is survived by his wife, Deb Brown; daughters, Kim Preston (Randy) and Kristi Muse (Greg); grandsons, Wade Preston (Megan), Steve Preston, and Brett Muse; granddaughters, Raine Preston and Storme Muse; great grandchildren, Wesley Anne and Amelia Preston; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends; and WHEREAS, a valued member of the community and loved by many, we join with others to celebrate his life and to mourn his death; although his presence will be greatly missed, his memory will be cherished in the hearts and minds of those who were fortunate to know him; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of James Franklin Brown is recorded with deep sadness, and even as we mourn his death, we also celebrate his life; this resolution is offered in highest tribute to his life, along with heartfelt sympathy to his family, whose grief is shared by many.
