Title
Retirement Systems, dependent child, to provide direct retirement benefits be paid to a special needs trust, authorized, Secs. 12-18-156, 16-25-14, 36-27-16 am'd.
Description

Existing law provides for the payment of retirement benefits to members of the Judicial Retirement Fund, the Teachers' Retirement System, and the Employees' Retirement System.

This bill would enable the Judicial Retirement Fund, the Teachers' Retirement System, and the Employees' Retirement System to pay the retirement allowance to a special needs trust where the member has designated as beneficiary a beneficiary of a special needs trust.

Relating to the Retirement Systems of Alabama; to amend Sections 12-18-156, 16-25-14, and 36-27-16, Code of Alabama 1975, to provide that a member of the Retirement Systems of Alabama may designate that a portion of his or her retirement benefits be paid to a special needs trust for the benefit of a dependent child.
